Agribusiness
AWS for Agribusiness and Exporters in Colombia
Drying moisture is written in one notebook, the weight of each lot in another, and the European buyer wants the plot coordinates. CloudTing builds the platform on AWS that receives sensor and scale data, warns you when something goes out of range and keeps the traceability of every lot.
What we solve
- Sensors, scales and stations that report on their own, even with spotty signal on the farm
- SMS or email alerts when a reading goes out of range
- Dashboards per farm, lot and plant, without running a reporting server
- Traceability per lot: origin, dates, quantities and plot coordinates
- Historical data that is cheap to keep and easy to query with SQL
- Cost per farm in plain sight, with spending alerts
Who it is for
- Coffee, cocoa, palm oil, beef or timber exporters that need origin traceability
- Sugar mills, coffee mills and processing plants with sensors or scales that are not connected
- Farms and cooperatives that want to decide with data, not notebooks
- Agribusinesses with small IT teams
What the EU deforestation regulation (EUDR) requires
- Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 requires proof that coffee, cocoa, palm oil, beef, timber, rubber and soy entering the European Union do not come from land deforested after December 31, 2020.
- After the postponement in Regulation (EU) 2025/2650, the general obligation applies from December 30, 2026, and from June 30, 2027 for micro and small enterprises.
- The importer files the declaration with the EU, but will ask the exporter for each plot's geolocation (a polygon if the plot is over 4 hectares), production dates and evidence of legality.
- That information has to be stored per lot and delivered quickly. That is exactly what the architecture on this page keeps in order.
What we do not do
We are not EUDR certifiers or advisors, and we do not perform due diligence. We build the platform that stores and organizes the origin data of each lot; the risk assessment and the declaration are done by your compliance team and your buyer.
Reference architecture
A typical pattern for field data: sensors and scales send readings to AWS IoT Core, which stores them as time series in Timestream and per lot in S3, and alerts through SNS if something goes out of range. Athena queries the S3 data with SQL and QuickSight shows the dashboards, with no servers to maintain.
How we start
- 1Free review: we look at the data you have today, where it lives and what your buyers ask for
- 2Report with a proposed architecture and the estimated cost per farm
- 3Pilot on one farm or plant, with real sensors and dashboards
- 4Rollout in stages to the rest of the operation
- 5Ongoing operations and support, if you need it
Frequently asked questions
What if the signal on the farm is poor?
Devices keep the readings and send them when the connection comes back, so no data is lost to a dropped signal. If needed, data can be processed on the farm itself and only what matters is uploaded.
Does this get us ready for the EUDR?
It gets the data side in order: every lot with its origin, dates and coordinates, easy to query and to hand over. Due diligence and the EU declaration remain with your team and your buyer.
Do we need to buy special sensors?
Not necessarily. AWS IoT Core accepts data from many kinds of devices, and the scales or equipment you already have can often be connected. We check during the pilot before you buy anything.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the number of devices and how often they report. We estimate it with your numbers and set spending alerts and cost per farm from day one.
