Backup & Disaster Recovery on AWS

Having backups is not the same as being able to recover. Most companies find out their recovery plan doesn't work exactly when they need it most. CloudTing helps you set realistic RPO and RTO targets, validate that your backups actually restore, and build a DR plan your team can execute under pressure.

What we deliver

  • Backup coverage mapping for critical systems
  • Restore testing plan and real validation
  • RPO/RTO definition per system based on business criticality
  • DR architecture options (cost vs. recovery time trade-offs)
  • Operational runbooks for activating DR without improvising
  • AWS Backup, snapshot, and data retention review

Who it's for

  • Companies with critical production workloads in AWS and no documented DR plan
  • Teams that have backups configured but have never tested them
  • Organizations that need to meet business continuity requirements

How we work with you

  • 30-minute call to understand your critical systems and current backup setup
  • AWS Backup and DR readiness assessment
  • Statement of Work with scope and SLA, under NDA and a 12-month framework contract
  • Sprint-based implementation: backup coverage, restore tests, runbooks
  • Ongoing validation with monthly reporting and scheduled DR drills

Frequently asked questions

What are RPO and RTO?

RPO (Recovery Point Objective) is how much data you can afford to lose in the worst case — for example, a maximum of 1 hour of transactions. RTO (Recovery Time Objective) is how long you can be down — for example, a maximum of 4 hours. Defining these per system is the first step of any serious DR plan.

Do you test backups in production?

Tests are run in isolated environments so production is not affected. The goal is to simulate a real failure and measure the actual recovery time.

How much does implementing DR on AWS cost?

It depends on the required availability level. Options range from simple backups with manual restore to multi-region active-active architectures. During the initial diagnostic, we evaluate which level makes sense for your business and budget.
